Branding with Blume

A few weeks ago, the fine folks at Blume sent me three patches with the TTR name embroidered into it (as seen here). Blume specializes in customizing personalized labels for clothes, accessories, and underwear. Done in oval shapes with the letters in simple monochromatic script, it is very reminiscent of blue collar uniforms (think mechanic jumpsuits with their names on the side). In this case, the retro revamp works for just about anything— even shirts for dogs. One of the most popular lines, however, is their underwear collection. Ready to be emblazoned by the name of your significant other, thongs, boxers, and cami sets are great for brides, bachelorette parties, and as gifts (possibly for an upcoming day of gaggable pink decor, hearts, and chocolates that are in supposed celebration of that thing called love?)

…But my all time favorite product of theirs has got to be their Little Man and Dapper Dude lines for boys. They are actual ties and vests placed on thermals and t-shirts. They give off the conundrum impression of casual formal. I really want one and I wonder if the largest kid size would fit me….

Any hooters, I’ve been wondering where to put my patches and I’ve long since been thinking of new ideas on how to brand oneself/blog. In the vast marketing/PR/Social Media space, branding is everything. You need your name to be seen and placed out there all the time. Of course, wearing it on your shirt sleeves (and shirt) can help. But I got to thinking that, even though it would be great to have a Blume patch somewhere on all your articles of clothing, it is not entirely plausible…So being inspired by the Little Man and Dapper Dude lines, I decided to use my patches to spruce up my work space and my ever so essential tool- my laptop. If I’m not working at the dining table in my apartment, I can usually be found in my favorite UWS Starbucks (yes, I am a cliche´), but amongst a sea of laptop sameness, mine will proudly display my moniker, highlighted and accented by the glowing Apple logo. Speaking of glow, if I do work at home, I prefer my setting to be as calm as possible (especially while I tackle one stressful project after another) and I usually light scented candles all around the room. Recently, coming into possession of plain white candles, I decided they too could use a TTR makeover…and these pics that you behold before you are what came of it. (Styled with my favorite vintage Hermes tie, denim bowtie, and @thetinytierant nameplate necklace). To conclude, the moral of this post is, get thee branding and wear it stylishly and proudly with Blume.

Special thanks goes to Blume and Kimberlee of I Have A Degree In This!
